RiverRun Bookstore is excited and a little frightened to welcome horror author Bracken MacLeod to the store to read on October 27th at 6:30pm. The event is free and open to the public, and will be a fundraising event for The Portsmouth Halloween Parade. RiverRun will donate $5 for every person that attends this event. The bookstore will also donate $10 for every copy of Stranded sold at the event.
Bracken MacLeod has worked as a martial arts teacher, a university philosophy instructor, for a children’s non-profit, and as a trial attorney. His short fiction has appeared in various magazines and anthologies including Shotgun Honey, Sex and Murder Magazine, Femme Fatale: Erotic Tales of Dangerous Women, Ominous Realities, Eulogies III, Wicked Tales, Beat to a Pulp, Protectors 2: Heroes, ThugLit, LampLight, Splatterpunk, and Shock Totem Magazine.
In MacLeod’s new novel, Stranded, tension is high in the arctic. Badly battered by an apocalyptic storm, the crew of the Arctic Promise find themselves in increasingly dire circumstances as they sail blindly into unfamiliar waters and an ominously thickening fog. Without functioning navigation or communication equipment, they are lost and completely alone. One by one, the men fall prey to a mysterious illness. Deckhand Noah Cabot is the only person unaffected by the strange force plaguing the ship and her crew, which does little to ease their growing distrust of him.
To make sure there are plenty of books on hand, RiverRun encourages those planning to attend to call ahead to pre-purchase a copy. 603-431-2100
